My summer sabbatical is finally over after a six-week break and it feels great to be writing for my blog again. I had planned to extend this break until the end of August, but I’m actually really excited about the prospect of writing some new online content and getting it out into the world.
I think it’s important to have a break from blogging - it can take over your whole life (both writing posts and responding to comments) and sometimes you lose focus on what you want to write about - so I feel much better having had a sustained break. I am reinvigorated and ready to write.
What have I been up to in the intervening period? I hear you ask. I’ve just returned from a wonderful two-week holiday in France, which was very much needed. I have been working incredibly hard this past year, both in my professional career and my writing, so it was wonderful to take some time off and just completely relax.
Husband and I drove to France, which I have never done before, to Villiers-Sur-Loire by the Loire Valley, where we spent our first week, then down to Sigoulès in the Dordogne region for our second week. The break consisted of sunbathing, swimming, reading, writing, picking fruit, baking, and eating (a lot).
The South of France has given me a lovely golden tan, many great pictures (see below) and a lot of inspiration. I have come away with some decent writing ideas and plan to start getting to work a.s.a.p. There are some exciting projects lined up and I’ll be sure to tell you about them soon.
For now, hope you enjoy some of the images from France I have selected from Instagram.
