I recently celebrated my thirty-second birthday and as we were going to London I thought it would be a great opportunity to see a part of the city I had never been to before. After a quick look online, I found a website which suggested routes for themed tours and they listed a ‘Writers Walk‘ which instantly piqued my curiosity. The thought of ‘wandering through Bloomsbury’ very much appealed to me, especially as we could take in the British Museum as well. There is an exhibition currently showing at the British
Museum called ‘Ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead’, a fascinating collection of Egyptian antiquities explaining their superstitions and attitudes to death, the mummification process, and how they grappled with the afterlife. I also love the huge interiors of The Great Court in the museum (which opened in 2001) and it is worth going inside just to view this. Read more
